Five seats are on offer in the Killaloe Municipal District with five sitting councillors competing with five other candidates, four of which are contesting an election for the first time.
Pressure is mounting on the National Transport Authority to reverse it’s decision to award the TCU contract for Clare Bus to Limerick Local Link as opposed to Clare Accessible Transport.
A decision from the National Transport Authority (NTA) to take the contract for the county’s rural transport co-ordination unit (TCU) from Clare Accessible Transport (CAT) and award it to Limerick Local Link has been met with widespread hostility and labelled “a grave act of injustice”.
Posters of sitting councillors in the Killaloe Municipal District will not be visible for May’s local elections, their decision has been welcomed by new candidates who are annoyed not to have been consulted about the charter.
