Tony Kelly with Damien Browne, Lending & Business Development Manager with St Francis Credit Union.
IN A CAREER where he has amassed a fair share of silverware and accolades, Tony Kelly has added to the collection by being named St Francis Credit Union / The Clare Echo player of the week.
A brand ambassador for St Francis Credit Union, Tony is no stranger to the headquarters at Friar’s Walk, Ennis. Performing when the pressure is on is nothing new to the Ballyea man who was one of the leading performers in round two of the Clare SHC.
Ballyea needed to produce the goods to stay in the championship, Tony led their charge and scored 1-12 of their 1-17 as they were forced to share the spoils with Clonlara.
Kelly’s goal flew past five Clonlara players while he picked off points from all angles while also pulling the strings and leading from the front for Robbie Hogan’s men.
It’s must-win for Ballyea heading into round three, they must first defeat St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield to ensure they don’t end up in a relegation battle. Should they secure a victory and Inagh/Kilnamona overcome Clonlara then the four-time champions will advance to the quarter-finals.
