A third arrest has been made as part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs and the possession of firearms in Co Clare.

Under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006, a female in her twenties is being detained at Ennis Garda Station. Two males in their thirties remain in custody at Ennis and Shannon, the pair were arrested on Tuesday.

Detective and uniform Gardaí from the Clare Division carried out searches at a number of properties in the Ennis area prior to the arrests. The operation relates to recent drugs and firearms incidents in the county and is also connected to the seizure of a sub-machine gun, ammunition and approximately €125,000 of suspected cocaine and cannabis herb that were seized on August 24th last year in Kilmurry, Sixmilebridge.

During the course of that search Gardaí discovered a sub-machine gun and ammunition, 1.5kgs of Cocaine with a street value of €105,000 and 1kg of Cannabis Herb with a street value of €20,000.
