Sheer necessity finally inched a determined Scariff over the line as they relievedly made it third time lucky to cement a first Intermediate Hurling Final appearance in 38 years following an epic heavyweight derby bout with a truly gallant Smith O’Brien’s in Sixmilebridge on Sunday evening.
Smith O’Briens have qualified for their fourth Clare IHC semi-final in six years after clawing their way back to force extra time and send Corofin crashing out of the competition.
It’s the view of many Clare GAA followers that the intermediate hurling championship is a particularly difficult competition to win.
