*Monday’s meeting of the local authority saw tensions raise between some councillors. FIANNA FÁIL COUNCILLORS silenced an attempt by an Independent councillor to get Clare County Council to publicly debate the merits of taking out a loan to acquire the four Shannon Heritage sites in the county.
*Knappogue Castle. CORRESPONDENCE has been issued to the Taoiseach seeking the appointment of a liaison officer to accelerate the transfer of Shannon Heritage sites.
*Bunratty Castle. GOVERNMENT FUNDING will not be provided to Clare County Council to take over Shannon Heritage sites in the county, a breakfast briefing of local councillors was informed on Wednesday morning even though the Taoiseach has said the matter is not over.

Senior engineers in Clare County Council have said the introduction of road markings along the Low Rd in Bunratty “would be detrimental”.
Clare County Council’s looming takeover of Shannon Heritage operated sites in the county offers a “real opportunity” to grow sustainable tourism.
Ownership and operation of Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Knappogue Castle and Craggaunowen is to be transferred of Clare County Council.
Engagement is ongoing between the Department of Transport and Shannon Group on the future of Shannon Heritage.
