SCARIFF/OGONNELLOE have secured their spot in the knockout stages of the Clare Credit Unions Senior Camogie Championship.
With three wins from three, Scariff/Ogonnelloe have all but ensured they will top group two following their victory over Feakle/Killanena.
At the other end of the table, there was nothing to separate St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield and Tulla as they both claimed their first point of the campaign. Their draw means it will come down to scoring difference to determine who is relegated to intermediate for 2027.
In group one, Kilmaley are now level on points with Inagh/Kilnamona after their five-point win against Clarecastle/Ballyea, while Cloone/Quin claimed what could be a crucial win against Newmarket-on-Fergus.

Feakle/Killanena commenced the scoring inside the opening twenty seconds through Zi Yan Spillane which was shortly followed by a score from Alva Rodgers to level things up in the early stages.
Spillane responded once more, this time from a placed ball, Maria Moloney then pushed the gap out to two points. Lynda Daly and Jennifer Daly levelled proceedings yet again before Feakle/Killanena hit the net twice in just thirty seconds.
Bronagh Brady was first to rattle the net before a Róisín McMahon shot from outside the twenty-one found its way past Rachael Daly to give them a 2-3 to 0-3 lead.
Caoimhe McNulty answered back with a green flag of her own for Scariff/Ogonnelloe, breezing past her marker Rachel McNamara and finishing the ball tremendously to the top left corner of the net.
Spillane made it a two-score game once more via a free, before Aoife Power slotted a lovely score over her shoulder to reduce the deficit to three points.
As half-time loomed, Mairéad Scanlon nearly tied things up but Feakle/Killanena goalkeeper Róisín Quilligan managed to flick her batted effort over the bar to maintain her side’s 2-7 to 1-7 lead at the break.
Scariff/Ogonnelloe outscored Feakle/Killanena 0-12 to 1-0 in the second half, scoring eight points without reply, with Caoimhe McNulty playing a crucial role in sending them into a lead which they never relinquished.
In the final minute of normal time, Zi Yan Spillane brought the gap back to two points after pulling on the ball to find the net following a scintillating run by Robyn Conway, but it was David Sullivan’s Scariff/Ogonnelloe who got the final four scores of the game to secure the points.
Caoimhe McNulty, Jennifer Daly and Lynda Daly were among the standouts for the winners, while Claire McNamara did another impressive marking display for Feakle/Killanena, this time on Aoife Power.

To many, this game was almost deemed a relegation decider as both St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield and Tulla had failed to get off the mark in their championship openers.
It was Tulla who were in the ascendency for a vast majority of the first half, leading 0-6 to 0-4 at the break after having the wind advantage.
That lead was overturned by Doora/Barefield in the third quarter as they took a two-point lead after scores from Éabha O’Driscoll and Katie Callaghan.
Tulla regained the lead moments later after a superb solo goal from Sinéad Conlon who finished to the net after an outstanding individual run. The midfielder scored an astounding 1-5 during the clash, all of that total from play.
A further Brídín Dinan free which was followed by a goal from a penalty had Tulla five points ahead with just six minutes remaining.
With four minutes to go, Doora/Barefield found the breakthrough they desperately needed through a long-range Éabha O’Driscoll free which dipped into the top corner of the Tulla net.
As the clock ticked down, Kate Moran won a free which substitute Siobhán Flynn pointed with the last puck of the game to secure a share of the spoils.
Most impressive for Tulla were the star of the show Sinéad Conlon, Jennifer Nicholas, Molly Moroney, Brídín Dinan and Orla O’Brien who operated as a sweeper. Among the standouts for Doora-Barefield were Sophie Torpey, Éabha O’Driscoll and Hannah Doyle.

Kilmaley keep their unbeaten streak going defeating Clarecastle/Ballyea

Kilmaley were potent in attack in the early stages getting the majority of their scores from open play through Kate Hayes, Grace Carmody and Caoimhe Carmody in the opening twenty minutes.
Evie Scanlon kept the scoreboard ticking for Clarecastle/Ballyea from placed balls before Kilmaley grabbed four points before the break, three from Grace Carmody and one from Caoimhe Carmody, to go in with a 0-10 to 0-7 lead at half-time.
After the teams reemerged, Kate Hayes hit the net to push the gap out to six. Regan Conway then notched three placed balls and heading into the final quarter Kilmaley held an eight-point lead.
With just over ten minutes remaining, Lauren Cusack found the net from close range for Clarecastle/Ballyea to reduce the deficit to six once more. They rampaged for two more points in the next ten minutes and with two minutes to go, the gap was back to four.
Caoimhe Carmody responded with her third and final score of the evening for Kilmaley and with just over a minute to go Doireann Murphy came forward from between the sticks for Clarecastle/Ballyea to attempt to raise a green flag which Jodie Cahill brilliantly stopped on the line.
Moira Maher was imperious at wing-back for the winners, while Grace Carmody, Caoimhe Carmody and Kate Hayes also impressed.

Clooney/Quin cause shock as Newmarket-on-Fergus collapse in second half

Intermediate champions Clooney/Quin recorded their first win since returning to the senior ranks, overcoming Newmarket-on-Fergus by three points.
Ahead by six points at the interval, Newmarket-on-Fergus were in a comfortable position but somehow found a way to lose for a successive weekend. The result has made their task of making the semi-finals much more difficult than it should have been as a second win under their belts would have them on course for a first semi-final appearance in six years.
Instead they are at the other end of the table and need to defeat Kilmaley this Friday to consolidate their senior status and hope results go their way to progress to the knockout stages. Showing the age profile of their panel, their side was weakened by the fixture clashing with the St Caimin’s Community School debs.
Refusing to give in, Clooney/Quin emerged with the victory which all stemmed from their second half showing and ability to keep the scoreboard ticking. Ciara Grogan accounted for over half of their tally from placed balls, the concession of six scoreable frees by the Blues an obvious area they need to tackle.
There was more energy from Clooney/Quin as a collective with the Moynihan sisters, Emma Deegan and Sheena Beirne among those driving the challenge for Eoin Gallagher’s side.
Level twice inside the opening seven minutes, Newmarket-on-Fergus put their stamp on proceedings when Aoibhe O’Leary struck for goal on eleven minutes when reacting to a dropping free from Ellen Casey.
Grogan and Beirne responded to O’Leary’s major to get Clooney/Quin back on level terms before hit three points on the bounce. Netminder Deirdre Murphy prevented another goal during this spell when blocking O’Leary on twenty six minutes.
Teenager O’Leary made no mistake in additional time when a Murphy puckout was won by Ellen Casey who fed the ball back in allowing Aoibhe to collect her fifth goal in two games and putting Newmarket-on-Fergus 2-6 0-6 in front.
Within ten minutes of the restart, Clooney/Quin cut this deficit back to two with four unanswered points, three placed balls from Grogan and another Beirne white flag.
Ciara Halpin had the assist when the lively Emma Deegan struck for Clooney/Quin’s goal on forty four minutes, tying the game as it entered the final quarter. In this spell, only Michelle McMahon scored for Newmarket while Clooney/Quin had the last three scores of the game to run out as winners.
Once again Aoibhe O’Leary was the chief threat in the Newmarket-on-Fergus defence. The decision by the Blues management to move her from centre to full forward at half time was detrimental to their cause and a godsend to Clooney/Quin as it kept their most lively player out of the game. Aoife Griffin stood out in defence in what was a game that will certainly sting the Blues.
