ROAD markings around Cratloe and Meelick are being refreshed, with further works to be considered in the next phase of the programme.

The update was given at the September meeting of the Shannon Municipal District following a Notice of Motion from Cllr Pat O’Gorman (FF).

Cllr O’Gorman had asked the Shannon MD to assess road markings around Cratloe and Meelick and replace them where necessary, particularly around bends and dangerous junctions.

In a written response, A/Senior Executive Engineer Caimin Dillon said road markings were currently being refreshed in the areas.

“Consideration will be given to further works in the next phase of road markings,” he said.

Speaking at the meeting, Cllr O’Gorman said some road markings had already been realigned since he submitted the motion.

He highlighted the markings around “bad bends” and thanked council officials for the response.

The motion was seconded by Cllr Rachel Hartigan (FF).
