NEWMARKET CELTIC B have won the First Division title for the third year running.
An unbeaten league run saw Newmarket’s second string finish top of the second tier for the third year on the bounce and it marked back to back titles for manager Brian Arthur.
Clare District Soccer League (CDSL) fixtures secretary, David O’Grady who was full-back on the FAI Junior Cup winning side of 2023 presented the Boru Sports First Division trophy to victorious captain Killian Howard following their 4-4 draw with Moher Celtic on Saturday evening.
Ronan McCormack scored a hat-trick for Celtic but they let a 4-1 lead slip to record their third draw of the season, Tom Hanrahan scoring the equaliser for the visiting Moher Celtic.
Moher currently sit in second position but Shannon Hibs are just three points behind them and have three extra games to play.
It is the seventh time that Newmarket have won the second tier league. Their dominance at the grade and the continued folding of sides from the Premier Division could yet strengthen the case for them to move up to the top flight.
Alongside McCormack, the Newmarket side also included the experienced Alan Kelly and Seamus Considine alongside ex Galway Utd footballer Adam Gilbert.
