200 fireworks were seized by Gardaí in Kilrush on Saturday night.

A house in the area of Wood Rd was searched under warrant by Gardaí from the Kilrush Garda Station on Saturday evening as part of Operation Tombola.

One man was questioned following the discovery and seizure of 200 illegal fireworks by Gardaí. No arrest was made, a file is currently being prepared for the office of the DPP.

Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Triona Brooks appealed to parents to discuss the dangers of fireworks to their children and teenagers. “Fireworks can cause annoyance to the elderly and babies and distress to animals and if they continue to burn after landing they may cause damage to property by fire or cause injury.

“We are asking parents to explain the dangers of illegal fireworks to children and teenagers,” she explained.
