A GUIDED kayak and ecology tour will take place along the River Inagh later this month.

Organised by the Restore Ballymacraven River Association (RBRA), the guided kayak and ecology tour will give members of the public a new experience of the River Inagh.

Delivered in partnership with Ben’s Surf Clinic, the event combines a guided kayaking experience along with an ecology talk led by RBRA’s ecologist Rachel Dowling.

Participants will paddle along the River Inagh while learning about the river’s biodiversity, the importance of healthy freshwater ecosystems, and the ongoing conservation work being carried out by the Restore Ballymacraven River Association to protect and restore the river.

The event aims to connect people with their local environment by offering a hands-on opportunity to explore the river while gaining a deeper understanding of the wildlife and habitats it supports. The event is open to anyone over the age of 12 years, no previous kayaking experience required.

All kayaks, safety equipment and instruction will be provided by Ben’s Surf Clinic.

Speaking ahead of the event, Cía McElveen Walsh of RBRA stated, “We are delighted to partner with Ben’s Surf Clinic to offer this experience. We hope participants will leave not only having enjoyed a memorable morning kayaking, but also with a better understanding of why protecting our rivers is so important”.

Places are limited to just ten participants per session and advance booking is essential. The two sessions on Sunday July 19th take place from 9am to 11am and from 11am to 1pm at a cost of €20 per person.

Booking can be completed on RBRA’s website and social media pages. The event is supported by LAWPRO as part of ongoing efforts to engage local communities in protecting and enhancing Ireland’s freshwater environments.
