CLARE manager Adrian Walsh has named his squad for his first outing in charge of the county for the Oscar Traynor.
North Tipperary District League make the trip to Frank Healy Park this evening (Wednesday) for the first round tie in Group 1 of the Oscar Traynor Munster Region, the action kicks off at 19:45.
Round two will see Clare face the Limerick District League in Jackman Park on November 18th with the final group fixture against Limerick Desmond Football League in Frank Healy Park on December 16th.
Ennis native Walla was appointed as Oscar Traynor manager by the Clare District Soccer League (CDSL) last month. He is currently in charge of the Treaty Utd U20s and the Avenue Utd A side.
Two-time Oscar Traynor winner, Conor Mullen is the side’s assistant manager, the Avenue Utd defender is currently recovering from a knee operation. The set-up also includes Avenue Utd Chairman Shane Hayes who is responsible for kit and logistics with fellow clubman Paul Roche the team’s goalkeeper coach and Patricia O’Donnell acting as physiotherapist.
Of the starting eleven which featured in Clare’s exit to Limerick District League last season, just Scott Kirkland and Cathal Cullinan remain involved with the squad. Johnson Mununkum, Adam Kilker and Eoghan Gough were all introduced as substitutes in that 4-2 defeat which marked the end of Denis Hynes’ tenure as manager.
Tulla Utd’s Simon Kilker and Kuba Ruminowicz of Avenue Utd will be battling for the goalkeeper’s jersey. Kirkland, Kilker, Avenue Utd duo Jack Ryan and Jamie Roche, Newmarket Celtic trio Kieran Mahony, Darragh Leahy and Nathan Boaventura are all pressing for inclusion in the first eleven.
There’s Clare interest within the Limerick District League squad which includes Newmarket-on-Fergus native Rob Shier, Ennis’ Dylan Casey, Joel Coustrain of Ardnacrusha and former Tulla midfielder Isaac Hassett.
