CROWDS EMBRACED the return of St Patrick’s Day parades across Co Clare with thousands of people lining the streets of the county.

For the past two years, physical parades have not been held due to COVID-19 so the return of St Patrick’s Day festivities was savoured all over Clare.

Doonbeg, Doolin, Feakle, Killaloe, Kilkishen, Kilrush, Kilkee, Lisdoonvarna, Miltown Malbay, Scariff, Tuamgraney and Sixmilebridge all held parades.

Front-line workers, Julia Fitzgibbon Hayes works with Enable Ireland, Dr Bruce O’Donnell from Ennis Medical and Nurse Mhairi Barron from Ennis Hospital were recognised for their efforts during the pandemic as they were selected as the grand marshals of the Ennis parade.

Harty Cup heroes, St Joseph’s Tulla were the grand marshals in Tulla with the honour bestowed upon kickboxing champion Liam Alford in Shannon.
