SPORTING ENNISTYMON have eliminated two Premier Division sides to claim their spot in the quarter-finals of the Ennis Carpets Clare Cup with Ennis Dons B knocking out their A team to advance to the last eight.
Quarter-final pairings will be confirmed on Monday evening with Sporting Ennistymon and Ennis Dons B among the underdogs left standing in the race for honours.

Fresh from ending Fair Green Celtic’s involvement in the competition, Sporting Ennistymon dispatched of Premier Division counterparts once again, this time sending Kilrush out of the Cup.
Despite falling a goal down, Sporting kept their focus and hit back with three second half goals to leave Kilrush reeling and more importantly sending them through to the last eight.
David Tubridy gave Kilrush an early lead when finishing to the net on six minutes.
Sporting took their time to get into proceedings and but struck for their three goals within the space of thirteen minutes. Seán McConigley bagged a brace with the returning Jamesy McConigley popping up with a goal while their brother Cathal had a part to play with two assists.

In one of the shocks of the season in Clare soccer, Ennis Dons B defied the odds to send their side’s A team out of the Clare Cup following a penalty shootout.
Not often does a Third Division side knock a Premier Division outfit of the Cup but it is also very rare for a club’s second team to put an end to the flagship side’s involvement in a competition.
It happened in Lees Rd when the Ennis Dons derby saw the B team beat their A counterparts but not without a bit of drama as a penalty shootout was required to determine the winners.
There was no goal in normal time or the twenty minutes of extra time which sent the tie to penalties.
Here it was the Bs that held their nerve, Tom McDonald, Aaron Bradley, Joe Conlon and captain Steven Lyons firing to the net while Conor O’Halloran was the only player from the A team to score his penalty.
