CLARE will reach winds of 53km/h during the yellow wind warning over the weekend.

Clare and six other counties have been issued a status yellow wind warning for 4pm-10pm Sunday, with Clare reaching winds from 29-53km/h.

What is predicted to be a windy day with strong and gusty southwest winds, Met Éireann has warned of potential impacts, including some waves overtopping, loose objects displaced, some fallen trees and branches, and difficult travelling conditions.

Strongest winds of 53km/h will arrive on this wet day around 8pm on Sunday, just before the rain finally stops at 10pm. The heaviest rainfall will occur from 4pm-5pm with 95% precipitation and temperatures of 8-11 degrees.

A status yellow gale warning will also be in place across coasts, including Loop Head, from 12pm today to 12am Saturday, with a small craft warning from 6pm Saturday to 12am Monday.

Rain will begin today and will last until 5am Saturday, before picking up again at 3pm to continue on throughout the weekend. Saturday will see winds of 6-34km/h.

Once the weekend has finished, Monday will improve with a partly cloudy sky before heavy rain hits at 12am Tuesday.

Other counties affected by the yellow wind warning are Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo.
