MORE than two decades have passed and the words ‘Aillwee Cave’ continue to adorn the front of the Burren Gael shirts, as the ladies football club season kicks off.
The Burren Gaels Ladies football team visited the Aillwee Experience last Sunday, where they showed off their new club gear, new all-weather jackets, with staff at the iconic North Clare destination.
Aillwee is celebrating 50 years in business and Burren Gaels club Chairperson Mary Connole said, “Congratulations to everyone at Aillwee Burren Experience on reaching this remarkable 50-year milestone.
“For five decades you’ve welcomed visitors from around the world while showcasing one of the Burren’s greatest natural treasures. As a club, we know success is built on the support of people who believe in a vision, and Aillwee has been one of those supporters from the very beginning.
“Since Burren Gaels was founded in 2004, Aillwee has stood proudly alongside us, sponsoring our first set of jerseys and continuing to support the club over the past 22 years.
“From one underage team to a thriving club with players from underage through to senior level, your generosity has helped generations of girls and women enjoy Gaelic football, represent their communities with pride and celebrate countless achievements.
“Thank you for your friendship, your unwavering support, and most recently for sponsoring our special 50th Anniversary team jackets. We are incredibly proud to have Aillwee as part of the Burren Gaels story.”
Aillwee Experience MD, Nuala Mulqueeny added, “We really are proud of the partnership that has remained solid over two decades now. Long may it continue. Best of luck to the girls in the upcoming championship and to all the teams, from underage right up to senior . The volunteers who carry out the officer and mentor roles are what make the club strong & sustainable. Hats off to them all.”
