NEWMARKET-ON-FERGUS’ Callum McNamara has ranked among the best in Ireland and the world with his accountancy exams.
An Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) student at Dublin-based online college, Accountancy School, Callum finished first in Ireland and third in the world in his Strategic Business Reporting exam. In addition, he also ranked first in Ireland and sixth globally in Advanced Financial Management.
This is the second consecutive set of professional exams where Callum has placed first in Ireland for a subject. He works as an accountant with Xeinadin at their Galway offices.
Viewing his results in context, of the worldwide number of 500,000 ACCA students, approximately 8,000 of whom study in Ireland, Callum was among 28 fellow Accountancy School students to finish first in Ireland. All were recognised for their achievements at a ceremony in Dublin recently.

Twenty five year old Callum is a former footballer with Treaty Utd and Galway Utd. He made 56 appearances for Treaty in their first two seasons in the League of Ireland before moving to Galway but injury deprived him the chance of featuring for the Tribesmen during his year-long stint with them.
Prior to this, Callum caught the eye with his home club, Newmarket Celtic. He began training with the club’s A team at the age of fifteen and represented the Newmarket Celtic A side for two seasons before signing for Treaty. He is a past pupil of Scoil na Maighdine Mhuire and St Caimin’s Community School while he also graduated from TUS.
