Schools are to reopen at the end of August while play pods are to separate children in childcare facilities from next month.
Concern has been expressed by Clare TD Violet-Anne Wynne (SF) over the level of worry experienced by parents within the county about accessing childcare when they attempt to return to work.
It is unknown when childcare facilities will reopen in the country, prior to their closure they were described as being “on the brink of collapse” by elected representatives in the county.
Childcare costs fell in Clare and five other counties in the Republic of Ireland last year. Nationally the average spent each week on childcare is €178 which is a €4 increase on figures from last year whereas in Clare, €157.72 is the standard fee paid which is a €1.70 decrease on the previous year’s equivalent. …
