DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS have poured cold water on the potential of the granting of town status for Westbury.
RESIDENTS of Westbury have said they live in “the forgotten part of Co Clare”, a county councillor has advised fellow elected representatives.

The feasibility of requesting town status for parts of South Clare has been questioned by a local election candidate.
Town status could be afforded to Westbury, Shannon Banks and Carraig Midhe if approved by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
