SIXMILEBRIDGE’S Mairead Hyland was among the grand prize winners of Shannon Airport’s biggest ever ‘win your holiday wishlist’ giveaway.

Over 70,000 entries were received across Ireland for the five-week competition which saw fifty lucky entrants each win a pair of flights to destinations across Europe and the US, all departing from Shannon Airport, including Paris, Rome, Madrid, Frankfurt, New York and Boston, among others.

All entries were also included in a Grand Prize draw, where four people won trips to bucket list destinations in the US, made possible thanks to easy onward connections from Shannon via European and US hubs.

Mairead Hyland of Sixmilebridge was among them and she’ll be heading to Nashville, the home of country music. Adel Tuite from Pallasgreen in Co. Limerick will be holidaying in Orlando in the sunshine state of Florida; and Triona Keane from Killimor, Co. Galway won flights to the Californian city of San Francisco. A fourth grand prize winner, Lorraine Murtagh from Loughrea in Galway, will be trying her luck in Las Vegas.

Assistant Brand Manager of The Shannon Airport Group, Emma Croke said, “It was a real treat to meet some of our prize winners and see just how excited they are to be heading off to iconic US destinations. We had a fantastic reaction to the giveaway, with over 70,000 entries from right across Ireland creating their own holiday wish lists based on routes from Shannon. We’d like to say a big congratulations to all our winners and wish them a fantastic trip”.

Visiting Nashville will be a honeymoon for Mairead, she admitted. “I’m getting married in August, so this trip to Nashville is now going to be our honeymoon! Country music is the one type of music my fiancé and I can always agree on, so it really is the perfect destination for us. I’m so excited, I already have a full itinerary planned. We always fly from Shannon as it’s right on our doorstep and so easy to use, so being able to travel from here for what will be such a special trip just makes it even better”.

‘Win Your Holiday Wishlist’ formed part of Shannon Airport’s “Best Place to Fly From” campaign, highlighting the airport’s famously hassle-free experience, earned through its award‑winning customer experience and status as Ireland’s top airport brand (RED C BRII 2025).

Shannon Airport’s close-to-terminal parking, compact layout, full US pre-clearance and accessibility features including a sensory room and Changing Places facility all add up to a more effortless journey through the airport. With 40 routes and strong demand from Shannon, the winners will be joining hundreds of thousands travelling from the Clare airport this summer, so passengers are encouraged to plan ahead, pre-book parking and allow plenty of time before departure.
