*Elton Court, Inset: Cllr Pat O’Gorman

ROADS in Elton Court, Meelick are to be considered for inclusion in Clare County Council’s 2027 Schedule of Municipal District Works.

The update came at the September meeting of the Shannon Municipal District following a Notice of Motion from Cllr Pat O’Gorman (FF).

Cllr O’Gorman had called for the road conditions in Elton Court to be assessed, with funding allocated from the 2027 Roads Works Programme for any necessary works.

In a written response, A/Senior Executive Engineer Caimin Dillon said the roads in Elton Court would be included for consideration in the 2027 Schedule of Municipal District Works.

Speaking at the meeting, Cllr O’Gorman described Elton Court as a “fairly old estate” and said the roads were in poor condition.

He said the volume of vehicles and trucks coming into the estate to turn were contributing to the condition of the roads over time.

Cllr O’Gorman said he had been carrying out a leaflet drop in the area recently when residents asked him if he could do something about the roads.

He acknowledged that there would not be enough money to address every road but said it would be helpful if the worst sections could be identified and repaired.

Cllr Rachel Hartigan (FF) seconded the motion.
