More awareness on free parking in Kilrush town is needed.

An appeal was issued by Cllr Ian Lynch (IND) for resurfacing works to be completed at the Place de Plouzane car park in Kilrush and for the addition of signage “directing people to avail of the free parking”.

Clare County Council has committed to ‘free parking’ fingerpost signs “advising motorists of the ample available parking at Place de Plouzane,” senior executive engineer Alan Kennelly advised.

He added, “Place de Plouzane is included in the Kilrush Masterplan, which is currently being developed by the Kilrush Town Team in partnership with Clare County Council. Clare County Council has no plans to resurface the Place de Plouzane prior to the publication of the Kilrush Masterplan”.

“During the summer in Kilrush we didn’t see the warden, we need to see a turnover of spaces in the town,” Cllr Lynch outlined. He flagged that there a number of vacant properties in the vicinity. A slight tidy up such as resurfacing “would make a big difference to the area,” he felt.
