TRACTORS, trucks, trailers and vehicles of all sizes will be resuming their protest on the M18 for a second day in Co Clare on Wednesday morning.
Protestors will be leaving The Banner Plaza from 7am on Wednesday morning to embark on a second full day of protesting over the rising cost of fuel.
Commuters across Co Clare and neighbouring counties will be impacted for a second day running as a result. The drive to and from work was made a lot longer for many ordinary citizens with the M18 moving at a snail’s pace during rush-hour traffic on Tuesday evening.
Details on a planned route for Wednesday morning have not been finalised. It is anticipated that the convoy will travel in two different loops along the M18 heading southbound from junction 12 towards Newmarket-on-Fergus and Shannon and northbound towards Ennis and Barefield.
Convoys on Tuesday also travelled along the N85 towards the Clareabbey Roundabout and further towards the Lahinch Rd in Ennis with a route also travelling through Clarecastle later on Tuesday evening.
Organisers have described the first day of protesting as “a great success”.
Cathal O’Donoghue of C&C Executive Travel who is one of the chief organisers in Co Clare informed protesters, “We will strike again at 7am and cause more chaos because we are not getting anywhere with the Government. Limerick is locking down tomorrow and they are staying overnight in places in Limerick, Cork and Dublin”.
