There was mixed luck for Clare competitors in All-Ireland and Munster championship handball action last week.

At All-Ireland level Amber Nolan, Ellen Collins, Emma Considine and Caitriona Millane were all victorious while Sean and Matthew Coughlan and Martin Bon were victorious at Provincial level.

Ladies Senior: Clare (Caitriona Millane) defeated Tipperary(Sinead Meagher) 20-21, 21-14, 11-5

Cumann na mBunscoil:

Clare schools will be represented in Croke Park in the Cumann na mBunscoil National fials day in girls U11 singles by Ava Considine, Clarecastle NS., in U11 doubles by Abbie Davey and Evie Lyons of Kilkishen NS in U13 singles by Anna Madden, Scariff NS and Iarla Kelleher, Bodyke NS.

Second Level competition:

Clare Colleges County finals will take place in Clarecastle on Monday (April 7) starting at10am with pupils from St. Flannan’s College, St. Joseph’s Tulla, Colaiste Muire Ennis, Scariff Community College and St. Anne’s Killaloe taking part.

Gearoid O’Neill Cup:

The Clooney/Quin club had the finals of their parish league during the week with 8 teams and over 90 children from 10-17years taking part. The final night was very close with just 6 points separating
the teams. On the night there was recognition of recent All-Ireland wins for Sean McGee (U15 doubles), Sean Considine (U16 singles) and Sarah McGrath and Ella O’Brien with Munster B gold medals in U12 and U14 doubles.

Rebecca O’Neill presented the Cup to Sean McGee as winning captain.

Underage:

Underage semi-finals of girls and boys U11 championships will take place during the week with finals over the weekend. This is also the final weekend for the U10-11 blitzes with over 120 children visiting different alleys and playing fun games to show of the skills they have been learning for the last few months.
