MINOR WORKS to improve footpaths and drainage in Mullagh are planned to take place this year.

Following a visit by Clare County Council staff, works have been agreed for the West Clare village. “These are relatively small in nature and have not commenced yet. They will be completed in conjunction with our 2022 schedule of Municipal District works programme,” senior executive engineer in the West Clare MD, Alan Kennelly outlined.

Cllr Gabriel Keating had sought a progress report on the works. “It is a nice little village where a lot of people pass through on the way into town and Spanish Point. It was a thriving village one time, it is beginning to come back, it would nice if the Council played part. The engineer has made a promise and generally his promises are fulfilled,” he commented. His motion was seconded by Cllr Cillian Murphy (FF).

Also at the meeting of the West Clare MD, Cllr Keating appealed for remedial works to be carried out on the L6068 in Glascloon and also on the L6068-0 in Querrin “which are in a bad state of repair”.

“If necessary”, remedial works will be arranged for Glascloon and Querrin following an inspection with a velocity patcher, Kennelly advised. Cllr Keating suggested both areas be included in the 2023 schedule of works, his call was supported again by Cllr Murphy.
