67.000 passengers will fly through Shannon Airport over the June Bank Holiday weekend for what will be its busiest weekend of the year.

Summer travel gets into full swing at Shannon Airport with an eleven percent increase on passengers for the June Bank Holiday weekend forecasted. There are over two million seats to and from Shannon, this summer.

CEO of the Shannon Airport Group, Ray O’Driscoll outlined that Shannon is “experiencing very strong demand” in a “very positive start to the summer”. He stated, “We now have our largest route network in over 17 years, with 40 services in operation this year, including new routes to Rome, Warsaw, Madrid, Poznań and Frankfurt. Our transatlantic services to New York, Newark, Boston and Chicago also remain a key part of the programme, giving passengers across the region excellent choice this summer.

“Just as importantly, these services are benefiting the wider region. They bring significant numbers of visitors directly into the West of Ireland, supporting tourism and hospitality businesses along the Wild Atlantic Way and beyond. This, in turn, has a clear and positive impact on jobs and local economies across the region,” O’Driscoll added.

Alicante, Faro, Malaga and Lanzarote are the destinations attracting significant interest from Shannon passengers who are travelling from the West of Ireland and further afield to fly out of the Clare airport.
