A MALE teenager was hospitalised following a serious ‘assault’ in Ennis on Monday afternoon.
“Non-life threatening” injuries were sustained by a teenager according to a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána. The incident took place in Clancy Park and he is understood to have lost a lot of blood prior to receiving treatment at Ennis Hospital.
One section of Clancy Park in Ennis was sealed off on Monday afternoon with a strong Garda presence in the estate in the aftermath.
In a statement to The Clare Echo, An Garda Síochána started, “Gardaí have received report of an alleged incident of assault at a park earlier this afternoon in Ennis. Co. Clare. A male aged in his late teens attended at Ennis Hospital where he was treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening. Enquiries are ongoing”.
Gardaí were unable to comment on whether the knife incident was connected to the shooting in Dún na hÍnse in Ennis on Friday.
Clancy Park was the subject of an altercation last week where women were filmed brawling and fighting on the street.
