A MALE MOTORCYLIST has died following a road traffic collision in Bunratty.

On Monday evening, shortly after 4pm the motorcycle is reported to have collided with a car travelling in the same direction. The collision occurred between the junctions at Bunratty and Sixmilebridge.

Emergency services personnel were unable to resuscitate the man aged in his thirties at the scene where he was pronounced dead. The driver and four passengers of the car were uninjured and did not require medical attention.

Gardaí, the National Ambulance Service and units from the Clare County Fire Rescue Service in Shannon and Ennis responded to the accident.

Units of Clare County Fire Rescue Service from Shannon station responded to the incident along with National Ambulance Service resources and Gardaí.

Traffic diversions are to remain in place at the N18 while a forensic investigation takes place. The road will remain closed tonight and it is expected to open in the early hours of tomorrow morning, Tuesday 15th March, 2022.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at this time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
