ALL four semi-final spots have been sealed in the Clare Credit Unions Senior Camogie Championship with a game to spare.
With two sides set to go down, it’ll be all about relegation fate in the final round after Inagh/Kilnamona, Kilmaley and Truagh/Clonlara joined Scariff/Ogonnelloe in the semi-finals of the competition.
In group one, Clooney/Quin take on Clarecastle/Ballyea in Fr McNamara Park this Friday evening which will determine who finishes bottom on that side of the draw.
Score difference could be the definitive aspect in group two, should neither of Tulla or St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield win their fifth round games against Feakle/Killanena and Truagh/Clonlara respectively.

After yet another clinical display in front of the posts, it was relatively plain sailing for the reigning champions Inagh/Kilnamona as they sealed first place in group one.
Elisha Rynne commenced the scoring early on which was followed by points from Andrea O’Keeffe and Kate Dowling before Evie Scanlon, who was Clarecastle/Ballyea’s only scorer, got them off the mark with a placed ball.
With twenty minutes on the clock, Inagh/Kilnamona were awarded a penalty which Clare Hehir stepped up to take, her effort flew just wide of Doireann Murphy’s post.
Scanlon kept the scoreboard ticking for Clarecastle/Ballyea, but it was Inagh/Kilnamona that struck the final five points of the half, two of those from Hehir, and at the break they held what was a comfortable 0-11 to 0-5 lead.
Scanlon got Clarecastle/Ballyea off the mark early on after the break with her sixth free of the evening, Inagh-Kilnamona then hit six points without reply, the pick of those was manufactured by Sinéad Power after an outstanding solo run after surging out from her corner-back position.
Heading into the closing stages, Inagh/Kilnamona held a comprehensive 0-17 to 0-6 advantage, Scanlon notched over her seventh and final free to make it a ten-point game before Eugene Foudy’s charges routed for three unanswered points, another two of those from their top scorer Clare Hehir.

A third successive win has sent Kilmaley through to the semi-finals while a third defeat on the bounce has ended Newmarket-on-Fergus’ aspirations of making the knockout stages.
Level at 0-3 apiece by half time, it was Kilmaley that kicked on in the second half while Newmarket’s repeated struggles on the restart became evident when they were outpowered 0-8 0-4.
Additions of Eimear Considine and Shonagh Enright with their combined experience of representing Clare in both codes had a big impact on Kilmaley taking control in the second half.
They hit an unanswered five points between the turn of the third and fourth quarter putting Shane Slattery’s side in a commanding position.
Basic errors like rising the sliotar first time caught Newmarket-on-Fergus on different occasions. For the second week in a row they left Clareabbey deflated but now have a potential risk of relegation hanging over them as they sit out the final round and hope results go their way.
Sucb a scenario could only arise if Clarecastle/Ballyea defeat Clooney/Quin which would put all three clubs level on points. A win for Clooney/Quin would relegate the Paul Murphy managed side.

St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield suffer heavy Scariff/Ogonnelloe defeat

With their semi-final spot already cemented, Scariff/Ogonnelloe kept their unbeaten streak going in another game where only one team managed to score from play.
A vast majority of the St Joseph’s Doora/Barefield team lined out for the club’s footballers again on Sunday and have played seven games across both codes in just twenty-eight days.
Scariff/Ogonnelloe had struck four points inside the opening ten minutes after two Mairéad Scanlan frees and a point each from Labhaoise O’Donnell and Joanna Grady.
Siobhán Flynn got Doora/Barefield off the mark a minute later and Scanlan responded with three further placed balls before Aoife Power rattled the net for their opening green flag in the twenty-second minute.
Scariff/Ogonnelloe’s second goal came on the brink of half-time through Danielle Beston and at the break, they held a comfortable 2-8 to 0-1 lead.
Aoife Power was first on the scoreboard inside the opening two minutes of the second-half, before Flynn answered back with her second free and St Joseph’s second score of the tie.
With thirty-nine minutes on the clock, Scariff/Ogonnolloe found the net for a third time through Eimear Murnane which was quickly followed by a point from Power.
Flynn struck Doora/Barefield’s third and final score in the forty-first minute before David Sullivan’s side rampaged for two goals in just over a minute with Aoife Power and Eimear Murnane both doubling their tallies.
Jennifer Daly was sprung from the bench and slotted over a point with seven minutes to go before Labhaoise O’Donnell got in on the goal scoring act, with the scoreboard now reading 6-12 to 0-3.
In the closing stages of normal time, Scanlan struck the final point of the game, this time from play, after a ruthless attacking display from the side in sky-blue.

Playing with the aid of a slight breeze in the opening half, Tulla got the first score of the clash through Sinéad Conlon, but it was Truagh-Clonlara who looked a lot more threatening in attack from there on out.
Tulla struggled to get their hands on ball directly from their own puckout and certainly felt the effects of that throughout the contest with Truagh/Clonlara repeatedly punishing them on the scoreboard.
Áine O’Loughlin grabbed their first score of the game which was followed by points from Eimear Kelly, Róisín Begley and Hannah Horgan. O’Loughlin then hit the net midway through the first half to put last year’s county finalists firmly in the driving seat.
Begley, who starred for Truagh/Clonlara at centre-forward, impressively accounted for the rest of their total in the opening thirty minutes. Following O’Loughlin’s goal, she slotted over four points, two of which came from play.
With twenty-five minutes on the clock, Begley grabbed a goal of her own which she followed up on with her sixth point of the day to provide her side with a comfortable 2-8 to 0-3 advantage at the break.
Tulla could have went in at half-time further in arrears if it wasn’t for some very impressive last-ditch defending and the exploits of Amy McNamara between the posts.
When the sides reemerged, it was Begley who kickstarted the scoring again with two placed balls to extend Truagh/Clonlara’s lead.
Sinéad Conlon and Brídín Dinan have been Tulla’s only scorers in the campaign to date, and they combined for five second-half points, however, Truagh/Clonlara used the wind to great effect with Laura Foley landing three points from long-range.
