NEWMARKET-ON-FERGUS’ Eoin Hayes will line out with the Irish Amateur football side on Wednesday.

Hayes is the only Clare man included in the twenty one man squad. The Newmarket Celtic striker will be hoping to see action in what is a first outing for both the Amateurs and the Ireland Colleges & Universities team. Their friendly takes place at Home Farm FC in Whitehall

Manager of the Amateurs, Gerry Davis said the friendly is the first step piece of preparation towards the UEFA Regions Cup which take place next year.

A secondary school teacher in St Anne’s Killaloe, Eoin was first selected on the Irish UEFA Regions Cup squad in 2016 alongside his clubmate, Stephen Kelly.

The two-time Oscar Traynor medallist lined out for his home club on Sunday as they recorded an important 2-1 win over Shannon Town to maintain top spot in the CDSL Premier Division.
