LOSING THE 2024 intermediate final stood to Liscannor as they secured promotion to the senior ranks.
Jointly managed by Tony Roche and Gearoid Curtin, Liscannor bounced back from their final loss twelve months ago to Éire Óg to record a 0-10 2-2 extra time win over West Clare Gaels on Sunday.
Miltown Malbay’s Curtin told The Clare Echo, “last year’s loss in the final stood to the side. Conceding the two early goals put us under a bit of pressure but we were happy enough at half time as it was just three scores to two (2-1 to 0-2). We didn’t make too many changes”.
Katie Considine’s sin binning “rallied the team. There was no choice but to go after the game”.
He continued, “this is something Liscannor have been chasing for a while. It’s a huge moment for the club and for this group. There are a lot of good young players coming through”.
Training will resume this week as they divert their focus to a provincial campaign, Gearoid confirmed. “There is a competitor edge in all of these girls and they will want to continue winning. Competing in and winning county finals is rare enough and competing in Munster is rarer again. There is an opportunity there now and we will go after it”.
