210kg of cannabis worth an estimated €4.2m has been seized in Shannon.

On Tuesday, Revenue Officers seized 210 kilograms of suspected cannabis herb with an estimated value of €4.2m. The seized drugs are to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

This seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Clare Divisional Drug Unit and Revenue’s Customs Service.

A man aged in his forties was arrested by An Garda Síochána is detained in a Garda Station in the county under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. Investigations are ongoing.
