THE July board meeting of the Clare Ladies football board at Hotel Woodstock on Tuesday night came to a sudden stop as matters were about to get underway
A number of officers including Chairperson Theresa Roseingrave and stand in secretary Caoimhe McMahon of St Joseph’s Miltown left delegates without an explanation when departing the meeting room leaving delegates shocked. A factor may have been the presence of members of the county panel and the media.
Kilmihil’s Monica Callinan had stood down as secretary of Clare LGFA in recent weeks.
It is understood that an e-mail had been sent to the executive in recent days on behalf of the Clare intermediate panel of players listing a number of areas they weren’t happy with this season.
These included the lack of an S&C coach, and issues with regard to meals for after training and matches. It is believed that the email was signed on behalf of the players by team captain Caoimhe Harvey.
It is believed that in recent days a questionnaire was sent to members of the intermediate panel regarding the season gone but it seems that only players who hailed from senior clubs received the form meaning captain Harvey was among those not to receive the questionnaire from the Board.
A number of the players who were part of the panel were present at Tuesday’s meeting which was also attended by a number of media representatives.
Players and delegates were reluctant to comment on happenings. The officers who had departed the meeting are understood to have held a meeting in another location in the hotel but they did not return to where the delegate meeting was to take place.
Amongst the items to be ratified at the meeting was the board’s adult fixture schedule for the season which is pencilled in to begin on August 10th.
