This week at Shannon, there will be a singles competition over fifteen holes while there will also be a team of four competitions at Shannon where one score will count at each of the first five holes, two scores at each of the next five holes and three scores at each of the last five holes.

The club has hosted a number of competitions over recent weeks. James Harty (19) won the singles competition at the beginning of January with 36 points. In a team scramble competition the same week the winners were Brian Downey (10), Nigel Bourke (23), Eoghan McAteer (10) and Ross Newsham (16) on a score of 40.1 from Aidan (11) and Karl Moloney (22), Brendan O’Brien (16) and Billy Austin (20) with 44.2.

The men’s 15 hole competition played between January 3 and January 16 was won by Noel O Sullivan (21) with 37 points from Adrian Carew (9) on 36 points. The men’s team of four competition during the same period resulted in victory for John Kelly (13), David Byrne (19), Mike Collins (15) and Albert Carew (19) on a score of 80 points over 15 holes.

Last week’s men’s singles competition was won by Aidan O’Neill (28) with 37 points for 15 holes from Chris Price (14) with 35 points.

The modified scramble last week was won by Jamie Hodge (7), Greg Collins (14), Ben O’ Gorman (8) and Jordan Collins on a score of 89 points.

Ennis Golf Club:
There was a good turnout for the Ennis senior ladies weekly outing which resulted in victory for Deirdre Molyneaux, Ann Daly and Kathleen Pyne with 55,8. In second place with 58.2 were Claire Ruane, Margaret Flanagan and Carmel Cummins and they were followed by Brid Cunningham, Pat Lacey and Alice D’Arcy with 58.6.

Kilrush Golf Club:
Last week’s men’s singles at Kilrush was won by Sean Moran (14) with 29 points. He had two to spare over Anthony Gilmartin (12) with third spot filled by Des Murphy (17) who also scored 27 points.

Lahinch Golf Club:
As the golf season for 2022 begins managers of the various teams that will represent clubs are in the process of compiling a panel of players for this year.

The Lahinch club Pierce Purcell team managers for 2022 are John Skerritt and Mick O’Riordan and they are currently putting a panel together for this season’s competition. Club members interested in being part of the squad are asked to contact the managers as soon as possible ahead of a schedule of trials and practice sessions for this year’s competition.

Woodstock Golf Club:
The competition at Woodstock at the weekend was a club modified fourball which resulted in victory for Cathal Nagle (7) and John Dempsey(12) with 50 points from Ray Grogan (15) and Kevin O’Neill (12) who had a similar score. In third spot, with 49 points, were Kieran Dromey (4) and Jarlath Fahy (12).

This weekend’s competition will be a club singles stableford. The weekly seniors competition on Tuesday was won by Paddy Meehan, Sean Howard and Gerry Griffey with 51 points.

Dromoland Golf Club:
In week two of the ladies Winter league at Dromoland the winner was Dolores Fox with 22 points.
