BALLYALLA Lake is the setting for a dawn chorus event this weekend.

Ennis Tidy Towns in association with Tom and Nuala Lunch are holding the dawn chorus event this Saturday (April 25th) with attendees meeting at the carpark of Ballyalla Lake from 5:30am.

Chairperson of Ennis Tidy Towns, Mary Howard explained, “Ballyalla Lake is a great place to hear blackbird, song thrush, robin, wren, chaffinch, willow warbler, chiffchaff, blue tit, great tit, blackcap and many other birds in song. We will scan the lake for nesting water birds such as great crested grebe, little grebe, coot, moorhen. Who knows what else may turn up on a fine morning”.

Saturday’s event is expected to last approximately ninety minutes with persons attended encouraged to bring binoculars for the free event.
