In her first headline concert, Newmarket-on-Fergus country music singer, Clodagh Lawlor boasted a sell-out show.

Over 200 people gathered at Treacyโ€™s Oakwood Hotel in Shannon for โ€˜A Night of Country Musicโ€™ headlined by Clodagh Lawlor where the popular Louise Morrissey appeared as a special guest at the concert which received positive plaudits from those in attendance.

Plans to hold a hometown gig in her native Newmarket-on-Fergus last year came undone on account of the pandemic with the scaled-back event in Shannon working out well as an alternative.

Two years ago, Clodagh had a twenty fourth birthday to remember when she was named as the winner of the Late Late Showโ€™s search for a country music star in what was her debut on the worldโ€™s longest running chat show.

A strong contingent of country music fans from Ballynacally, Shannon, Ennis and Newmarket-on-Fergus were among the crowd while attendees from counties such as Galway, Offaly and Wicklow also travelled to the concert with American guests at the hotel also soaking up the atmosphere.

Speaking to The Clare Echo, Clodagh expressed her delight with the reaction to her first headline gig. โ€œIt went so well Iโ€™m absolutely thrilled with it all, just delighted people enjoyed themselves. It was such a huge step to take putting on your own concert but Iโ€™m happy I did. People came from places like Offaly, Galway and Wicklow, I was so shocked when they told me.

โ€œThere was so many young girls there too who came up to me after telling me that they hope one day to be in the Irish country music scene and I just hope Iโ€™m the reason someday that they chased their dream, anything is possible. I never expected to sell out but we did and I just hope itโ€™s the start of something more for meโ€.
