World champion kickboxer Liam Alford will be back in the ring this July.

A six time amateur champion, Liam made his debut in the professional ranks in April 2019 recording a split decision to collect the WKA 64kg world professional title from Dylan Cheema.

Heโ€™s returning to the ring this July and will lock horns with WRSA, IKF World Champion, Qasam Beg. The fight is to take place on the first weekend of July with a venue and date to be announced in the coming weeks. Already, it has been billed as a potential kickboxing fight of the century.

Shannonโ€™s Alford was due to fight Sam Allen of Scotland subsequent to his win over Cheema but the bout did not go ahead prior to the onset of COVID-19. From Dun na Rรญ, Liam is currently training in the army.

โ€œAny fighter out there at a professional level or fighting at a world-title level has to have the mentality of wanting to fight the best. You have to take any fight that comes your way, it is the only way to prove to yourself and everyone that you are the best,โ€ the Clare fighter said this week.
