Whilst glór’s doors may be closed, the venue has been working behind the scenes to redevelop its winter programme in a digital format, presenting lots of festive online shows for families and schools to enjoy.

A Christmas Carol is Aaron Monaghan and Bryan Burroughs’ playful, physical storytelling, stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic. The two award-winning actors, dressed in snazzy suits, play all the characters at break-neck speed using an array of colorful hats, scarves and an Ikea coat-rack! A Christmas Carol is funny, slightly scary, utterly heart-warming and features a surprise special guest appearing as Tiny Tim.

Family shows will be available on Saturday 5th and schools shows on Friday 11th and will be viewable for a 24-hour period.

Branar Téatar do Pháistí returns this year with an online performance of Rockin’ Rhymes, a musical treat for all the family with a merry mix of festive favourites and rocking rhymes performed by a fantastic 5-piece band.

This festive feel-good live music is just the ticket to get the whole family ready for Christmas. Family shows are available on Sunday 20th December and schools’ shows for the week prior.

The WhistleBlast Quartet bring another festive favourite with their online performance of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker on Saturday 19th. Come and enter the magical dance world of The Nutcracker, narrated and performed by the WhistleBlast and including Sleigh Ride and lots popular carols! Bells and Singing will feature and the audience can join in at home.

Pre-book performances on www.glor.ie or on 065 6843103.

12 Acts of Christmas is glór’s festive gift in the countdown to Christmas. Every day from 13th December glór will share a specially recorded short 3-minute act by a diverse range of artists and local performers on its social media channels and website.

Whilst glór can’t welcome audiences in person this year, 12 Acts of Christmas will capture a flavour of its usual festive fare. Acts include Ballet Ireland; pianist Sean Shannon; the Kilfenora Céilí Band, Susan O’Neill & Tara Furlong; Sarah McTernan and well-loved Pantaloons characters; Clare Youth Theatre; The Speks; Nóta Stóta, Nuala Kennedy & Jack Talty; Branar Theatre and Clare Youth Trad Orchestra.

And finally, whilst the building might be closed, glór is going all out with the lights and from Dec 5th will be creatively lit up featuring projection of festive artwork submitted by Clare’s community.
