Households along one of Ennis town’s busiest junctions are unable to open their doors following prolonger periods of rain due to the pooling of surface water.

In an attempt to alleviate issues with road surface water, Cllr Mark Nestor (FF) tabled a motion to the Ennis Municipal District urging the local authority to complete works at Ahern’s Terrace at the Kilrush Rd crossroads, this was seconded by Cllr Johnny Flynn (FG).

An inspection of the outlet from the existing gully at Ahern’s Terrace was conducted by Ennis MD staff which prompted officials to decide that urgent works were required to replace a damaged section of the drainage pipe. Part of the work has already been completed.

“Following any period of prolonged rain, the pooling of surface water is very bad,” Cllr Nestor stated and outlined that some households are particularly affected. “At these times, they can’t use front door or open windows at front of house”. Cllr Pat Daly (FF) noted, “It is one of the busiest junctions in the town of Ennis”.
