Three more deaths and 10 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the Republic of Ireland while Co Clare has recorded its twelfth day in succession without an additional case.

Officials within the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) have confirmed that the death toll in the country from COVID-19 is now at 1,720 following an additional three deaths in the past 24 hours.

An additional ten cases are known while two cases have been de-notified. This means that 25,391 people have tested positive for the virus in the country.

For the twelfth day in a row, Co Clare has not recorded an increase in the amount of confirmed cases in the county. A total of 369 individuals have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the county since the first case was confirmed in March.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tony Holohan stated on Tuesday evening, “While we now have a robust testing system in place. The success of this system is dependent on people isolating and coming forward to their GP as soon as they experience symptoms. Cough, fever, shortness of breath, change in smell or taste, flu like symptoms should be treated as COVID-19 until a GP assessment or test deems otherwise”.
