SAVAGE PIGS descended on Tulla for the St Patrick’s Day parade.

Tulla Pipe Band fresh from celebrating ninety years since their foundation led the St Patrick’s Day parade in Tulla which began at St Mochulla’s NS. They received a special award to mark their recent milestone.

Embracing the theme of folklore and fantasy, Tulla Drama Group turned its head with their ‘Savage Pigs of Tulla’ entry as they moved from the school up the main street and beyond the library.

“He spent the day in the pub drinking and when he came out the pigs were hungry, the farmer fell among the pigs and ate him, every bit of him,” Brian Torpey of the Drama Group explained. They won best adult comical for their entry.

Prizes were also awarded for best residential window while the rising price of oil and fuel led to one cyclist winning the award for best topical entry.
