“We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing,” is the message of the Clare Masters gaelic football side as they prepare to kick off their 2025 campaign.

Former inter-county and club players aged forty and over will represent Clare in the national Gaelic Masters Association fixtures.

Training has commenced with fixtures confirmed for the 2025 season. Kilkee’s Patrick Geary is in charge of the Clare side. “The team is going from strength to strength, showcasing not only skill and experience but also the enduring spirit of Clare football,” he said.

Persons born in 1985 or earlier are eligible to represent Clare in this competition. Interested personnel are asked to make contact via Clare Masters’ social media pages.

XLVets Ireland have come on board as the team’s official jersey sponsors in a two year deal. “Their support is a significant boost to our team and speaks to the strong connection between sport and community-focused businesses in Clare,” Patrick outlined. Structúr Roofing are the team’s training and social wear sponsor.

Patrick said the competition offers a way of keeping past players involved in the game. “The Gaelic Masters Association continues to provide a unique platform for past players to stay involved in competitive football, while promoting fitness, friendship, and mental well-being. The Clare Masters team fully embraces this ethos and looks forward to another memorable season. We invite Clare supporters across the county to keep an eye out for upcoming fixtures and to support the team as they take to the field once again”.

Clare kick off their campaign at home to Cork on May 10th before facing off with Limerick (May 24th) with further ties lined up against Kerry, Mayo, Galway and Westmeath.
