TUBBER GAA have applied for new cark parking facilities and a new vehicle entrance at their pitch in Attyslanly South.

This is the latest in a series of developments at the North Clare club which was recently granted permission for a new ball wall by Clare County Council.

In their latest application, the club intends construct a new vehicle entrance, car parking and all associated site works. The application states that “The proposed new car parking is to provide two accessible parking spaces, three bus parking spaces and seven standard car park spaces. All proposed spaces are to replace uncontrolled parking inside existing entrance gate”.

The application expresses concern over player safety caused by a lack of appropriate parking and a dedicated site entrance. It states that “players of various ages leave the changing room and instinctively run to the playing pitch. Currently there is a risk to all players as all vehicles accessing the parking to the west of the site have to drive across this area. There is therefore a risk of a player or pedestrian being struck by a passing car”.

Due to Tubber’s location within the Burren, concerns have been raised over the potential environmental impact this development could have. Tubber GAA, who currently compete at intermediate level in the Clare hurling championship, have their pitch located within the East Burren Complex SAC. As a result, a Natura Impact Statement accompanies the application. It outlines that a number of species have habitats in the vicinity of the proposed development including otters and the Marsh Fritillary butterfly.

The development is not expected to have any significant impact on the surrounding wildlife and environment however. The NIS states that “there will be no direct impacts on these species as a result of the Proposed Development”.

The project has been endorsed by Councillor Joe Kileen (FF).

Clare County Council has until the 13th of May 2025 to make a decision on the matter. Submissions and objections by the public can be made up to the 22nd of April.
