Having lost the last two intermediate camogie championships, Tulla refused to throw in the towel and their determination paid off when they captured the Clare Credit Union’s title at Cusack Park this Saturday afternoon.

A cracking contest ended with a one goal win over a gallant Broadford/Bodyke combination. The outcome was in doubt right to the final whisstle with the combination coming close to an equalising goal on a couple of occasions in the closing minutes
A lively first half in which both sides showed a high level of skill, concluded with Tulla holding a three point lead, 0-10 to 0-7, having played against the fresh wind.
Full forward Bridin Dinan was in sparkling form, having landed 0-6 of her side’s first half tally. Centre forward Orna Mulconry was another who impressed for Tulla in that opening half causing lots of problems for the Broadford/Bodyke outfit.
The beaten finalists made a strong start to the second half with the opening two points but Tulla struck for what proved to be a crucial score four minutes into the new period when Niamh O’Brien applied the finish for the game’s only goal.
By the mid point of the half the margin was the same as it had been at half time with Tulla the points ahead 1-12 to 0-12. They stretched the advantage tso five with two minutes to go but Broadford-Bodyke hit back with three unanswered points to leave two between the sides with three minutes of normal time remaining.
Bridin Dinan put the margin out to three with her tenth of the final and this proved to be the final score of the tie.
In the three minutes of added time that followed Broadford/Bodyke were on the attack but try as they did they were unable to get through for the goal they needed to force a replay.
After the game Clare camogie chairman Joe O’Donnell presented the trophy for the winning captain Gillian Ryan.
Outstanding for the winners were Bridin Dinan, Orna Mulconry, Sinead Conlon, Gillian Ryan and Lorna Power while the losers had strong performances from Karen Ryan, Saoirse O’Farrell, Aoife O’Brien, Sarah Wiley and Aoife Dillon
