A GRANT application has been submitted for a multi-million euro indoor sports complex in Kilrush.
Officials in Clare County Council last week submitted the application for the multi-million euro project in West Clare. The application was submitted under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund, the โฌ124m Government initiative was launched in April of this year and allows local authorities and national governing bodies of sport to apply for between โฌ600,000 and โฌ30 million for infrastructural projects.
Cllr Ian Lynch (IND) told the AGM of the West Clare Municipal District that โa brilliant application went inโ and was compiled in โa very short timeframeโ. He singled out the contribution of Colette Browne along with West Clare MD Directors, Jason Murphy and John OโMalley.
He said, โIf this grant application is successful this will be a significant multimillion euro investment for West Clare. For years we have built a case that an indoor facility is needed in West Clare today we move one step closer to the possibility of this being a realityโ.
Pat Sexton of Clare Sports Partnership was among those involved in the working group while the business case was finalised by Tom OโLeary with Stephen OโSullivan organising the design and Padraig Neylon was responsible for the concept design.
To date there has already been โa huge effort made by everyone to get this across the line,โ the Kilrush councillor noted. โHopefully we will hear in the near future on the applications success,โ he added.
