PRESIDENT Kieran O’Loughlinโ€™s prize to men and ladies was played for at Ennis at the weekend, Allyn Dalton (25) with 43 points won the menโ€™s competition and he was two ahead of James Corcoran (15).

Noel Connellan (22) was third with 40 points followed by Damien Plkington (14) with 36 points. Gerry Fitzmaurice (27) was fifth with 36 points followed by Paul Keane (31) with 35 points. Ronan Herbert won the gross with 34 points from Jason Considine (4) with 29 points.

Category A was won by Daire Meehan (9) with 36 points from Gerard Oโ€™Brien (11) with 35 points. Oliver O’Loughlin (14) won category B with 37 points from John C. McNamara (16) with 36 points.

Liam McCannon (19) was the winner of category C with 37 points from Eamon Connaughton (21) with 35 points.

Damon Murphy (24) with 40 points won category D from John Murphy (24) with 36 points. Larry Parks won the 9 hole competition.

In the ladies section the winner of the 18 hole stableford competition was Helen Gallery (24) with 35 points and she won on a countback from Sinead Oโ€™Sullivan (41).

Maeve Hoey (32) collected third prize having had the best score with 38 points but as a country member she was ineligible for the first or second prizes. Suzanne Deane (13) with 19 points won the gross.

Division 1 was won by Carmel Verling (24) with 35 points from Bridie Hanrahan (19) with 34 points.

Division 2 was won by Maureen Lynch (35) with 37 points (as a new member she was ineligible for 1st and 2nd). Second place was filled by Ethna Murphy (30) with 35 points.

Division 3 was won by Marie Connolly (47) with 34 points from Maureen Moloney with 33 points.

In the 9 hole competition the winner was Mary Oโ€™Halloran with 19 points from Margaret Flannagan with 18 points with third place filled by Mary Walshe with 16 points.

Other prize winners were Kitty Morris (past president) and Kathleen Frehill (putting competition).

Last weekโ€™s senior ladies competition was won by Brid Cunnigham, Mary Murray and Maeve O’Grady with 47 from Carmel Verling, Bernie Brooks and Judith Brassil with 49.

The weekly ladies competition was 18 hole stableford which was won by Joan Murphy (31) with 33 points from Nuala Corry (25) with 31 points with third place filled by Anna Marie Darmody (30) with 30 points.

Claire Ruane (11) won the 9 hole competition with 18 points from Carmel Verling (12) who had a similar score.
The divisions were won by Mary Nagle (12) with 16 points, Margaret Flanagan (19) with 16 points and Marian Irwin (21) with 18 points.

The senior menโ€™s competition last week was for the John Doohan trophy which was won by Ollie O Loughlin, Michael Irwin, Paul Kenny and Michael O Reilly with 67 points from Tony Lawler, Tom Fox, Michael Ball and Jimmy Kearns with a similar score.

Third place was filled by Pat Murphy, Sean Ryan, Terry Hughes and Michael Clancy with 66 points followed by John McEntee, Ger O Brien, Andrew McGloin and Tony McInerney with 64 points.

In fifth place with 63 points were Steve Burns, Jimmy Kearse, Paul Mockler and Frank Cullinan with 63 points.
The winner of the Friday open singles was Aaron Lyons (15) from Charleville Golf Club with 42 points. In second place with 40 points was Michael Clancy (32).

All Ireland final:

Ennis Golf club junior Sixes have secured their place in the All- Ireland finals at Grange golf club on this Sunday, September 21

GolfSixesโ€™ initiative, introduced by Golf Ireland in partnership with the Golf Foundation, has been rolled out to golf clubs across Ireland. Its focus is on participation, not performance, encouraging young players to enjoy the game.

GolfSixes matches are played over six short holes, each between 100โ€“150 yards/metres in length. The format is a 2-ball scramble, with any combination of players from the six-member team. Each team must include at least two boys and two girls, and all players must be under 13 years.

The members of the Ennis panel are Ronan Lahiff, Ben Kenneally, Siofra Corry, Ben Moloney, Andrea Fox, Conor Murphy and Oisin Hennessy.

The junior convenors at Ennis Golf Club are Tom Fox and Anne Gallery.

Woodstock Golf Club:

The Sweet’n’Green September medal was the competition at Woodstock at the weekend and it was played for over 15 holes.

The winner was Ken Horgan (8) with 59 and he won with a better back nine from Paul Coote (12) with third place filled by Ross Kenny (11) with 62.

James Gorman (25) won the over 20 handicap category with 56 while Paul Coote was the 2โ€™s winner at the 11th hole.

Last weekโ€™s winners in the Holly’s Haven Pharmacy scramble were Ross Kenny, Mary Holland, Vincent McInerney and Brian Farrell with 25.4

Dromoland Golf Club:

The winner of the menโ€™s 18 hole stableford competition at Dromoland was Jeff Molloy with 39 points from Conor Barry ith 37 with third spot filled by Diarmuid McMahon with 36 points.

The gross was won by Brian Shally with 34 points while Damien Lafferty with 34 points won the 20 and over handicap category.

The ladies Eye Candy mixed fourball (modified) competition was won by Jean Colleran and Ruari Price with 48 points. In second place with 47 points were Philip Alldritt and Catherine Murphy (East Clare) followed by Michelle McCarthy and Gary Neville (Spanish Point) with a similar score.

The team of 3 winners were Mary Arthur, Michelle McCarthy and Jean Colleran with 52 points.

Meanwhile the weekly 9 hole competition winner was Joan Ryan with 17 points.

East Clare Golf Club:

Last weekโ€™s senior men’s competition at East Clare was won by Batt Skehan, Paddy O’Brien and Steve Symes from Teddy Murphy, Michael Heffernan and Michael Drew with third place filled by Nick Obolewicz, Dominic Stuart and Donal Fleming.

Gort Golf Club:

The Josie McInerney Memorial trophy, an 18 hole singles stableford competition, sponsored by the McInerney family, was played for at Gort at the weekend where the winner, with 40 points, was Ciaran Conneely (16).

Category 1 was won by Enda Craddock (4) with 37 points, category 2 by Alan Fogarty (20) with 38 points and category 3 by Brian Crossan (24) with 36 points. The gross was won by Joe Moran (2) with 34 points.

Kildysart Golf Society:

Ahead of the penultimate outing by members of Kildysart golf society to Westport Golf Club for the captainโ€™s (Cyril Kelly) prize this Sunday, Gary Brooks leads the golfer of the year standings with 168 points.

He is followed by Liam Browne with 163, Joe Hogan with 138 and Bryan Hayes with 137.
