Woodstock had a great win against Ennis in the Costello Cup which was played at Ennis on Sunday.

This is an annual fourball competition played between the Ennis clubs. The competition did not take place last year due to Covid 19 restrictions. It was an extremely tight contest with Woodstock coming out winners by a single point. The final score was Woodstock 211 points to Ennis 210 points.

Paul Oโ€™Shea (8) won the weekend singles competition at Woodstock with 41 points. Declan Heffernan (8) with 39 points won category 1. The category 2 winner was Stephen McCarthy (12) with 38 points while category 3 was won by Joe McInerney (16) with 35 points.

Last week, the seniors played for the AAA taxis prizes when the winner was Tony Coote with 44 points from Richard Pyne with 38 and Brian Logue with 38. Michael Griffin and John McGrath won the nines while Brendan Arthur (0-75โ€™s) and Jim McMahn (0-80โ€™s) also featured amongst the prize winners. The prizes will be presented at the seniorโ€™s AGM in December.

There will be a club singles this weekend while the Autumn league league will be a scramble. Twenty seven teams of four have entered for this yearโ€™s league

Dromoland Golf Club:

The Christmas hampers competition for members at Dromoland Castle golf club took place over the Bank holiday weekend when Darren Reilly emerged as the winner with 43 points from John M. McCarthy who had a similar score. Brendan Spicer was in third spot with 41 points

Ennis Golf Club:

Della Burns (10) won the ladies 9 hole stableford competition at Ennis recently with 19 points. Patricia Oโ€™Donnell (20) was second with 18 with Anne Kiely (14) in third spot with a similar score followed by Carmel Cummins (21) with 17 points.

In a similar competition last week, Mary Nagle (13\) was the winner with 21 points from Claire Ruane (10) with 19 points. Bridie Keane (17) was third with 18 points followed by Della Burns (10) with a similar score

Lahinch Golf Club:

The closing date for entries for the Paddy Leyden trophy winter matchplay competition at Lahinch is this Friday, November 29. The format is fourball matchplay and all matches will be played on the championship course off the green tee markers. The draw will be made on Monday, November 1 and round 1 must be completed by November 14.

Kilrush Golf Club:

Tom Cleary (14) was the winner of the October Winter weekly singles competition at Kilrush with 29 points. He had one to spare over Declan Oโ€™Donovan (7) with third spot filled by Noel Thornton (12) who was a point further back with 27 points.

Portumna Golf Club:

Last weekโ€™s ladies competition at Portumna was won by Dagmar Ullrich-Werner (36) with 43 points. In second place with 31 points was Patricia Rowland (6).

Clare/Galway seniors:

The Clare/Galway seniors alliance will hold their last outing of the season on Monday next November 1 at Ennis when the tee will be available from 8.30am to 1p.m.and to book a tee time contact Ennis Golf Club.

Shannon Golf Club:
The winner of last weekโ€™s menโ€™s green tee challenge at Shannon was Eoghan McAteer (11) with 45 points from Dave Egan (21) with 41 points. Ed Hickey (1) won the gross with 36 points. Michael Marnell (5) won thee 9 hole competition with 21 points This week’s Autumn league format will be fourball.
