Pairings for the second round of the Clare SHC and Clare IHC have been confirmed.

Colleagues on the Wexford senior hurling management, Davy Fitzgerald and Brendan Bugler will face off in the second round of the Clare SHC. Fitzgerald is coach of Sixmilebridge while Bugler will be lining out with Whitegate. Adding extra spice to proceedings is the fact that Bridge boss Tim Crowe is Bugler’s father-in-law.

Dual clubs Cratloe and Éire Óg will square up in the second round of the Clare SHC. Fresh from their victory over Crusheen, Ballyea are drawn to play Clooney/Quin. Inagh/Kilnamona were one of the more impressive sides from the weekend and they will meet Newmarket-on-Fergus in the second round.

Kilmaley who were earmarked as favourites by some pundits will need to bounce back to stay in contention for the Canon Hamilton and they have been paired with Wolfe Tones. Clonlara take on neighbours Broadford while O’Callaghans Mills meet Crusheen and Feakle and Clarecastle do battle.

It is winners takes all in the second round of the Clare SHC and IHC, the victors advance to the last eight.

Speaking prior to Monday’s draw, Chairperson of Clare GAA, Joe Cooney paid tribute to all clubs in the county that hosted games over the weekend and the individuals that volunteered as stewards. “It was strange to be playing games behind closed doors, something we never thought we would see,” he stated.

Det Sergeant Brian Howard was present as a witness to the draws which were held behind closed doors at Clareabbey. 29 games were played over the weekend as hurling action returned to the Banner County.
