COUNTY Clare features on this week’s episode of RTÉ’s Cheap Irish Homes, with a house hunter taken to West Clare in search of a property with a garden and in close proximity to the sea.
Fifty seven year old Suzanna Dowling from Naas in Kildare and her partner Pat are on the look-out for a property in West Clare where they can eventually retire.
With a budget of €250,000, Suzanne is looking for a property that has a decent size garden to satisfy her love of nature and a house that is not too far from the sea so that Pat is able to enjoy his hobby of fishing.
Three properties are visited by Suzanne and her friend Michelle alongside presenters Maggie Molloy and Tadhg Casey.
Cooraclare is the first stop where they look at an extended three-bed bungalow surrounded by a mature garden which has an asking price of €250,000.
From here, they head to the Loop Head Peninsula, firstly in Cross to assess a three-bed house which had been extended to the side and the rear that also boasts a distant sea-view and has the grounds of Naomh Eoin GAA in close proximity, it comes with an asking price of €165,000.
Further up the road is a property just outside Carrigaholt that is situated on a new plot of half an acre. The forty to fifty year old bungalow has an asking price of €260,000.
The new episode is part of the seventh series of Cheap Irish Homes, which sees Molloy and Casey travel around the country looking at homes with affordable price tags and exploring their potential. The programme also features practical advice and design ideas around breathing new life into older properties.
