A BURST water main in West Clare has been fixed, it impacted on supply to hundreds of households and businesses from Sunday morning.

Water supply has returned to the majority of premises affected by the burst water main in West Clare, Uisce ร‰ireann stated on Monday morning, shortly before 11am. Initially, they had expected to have supply restored by 5pm on Sunday evening.

Crews were deployed on Sunday by Uisce ร‰ireann to try restore normal water supply to impacted customers as quickly as possible in Miltown Malbay, Spanish Point, Quilty, Mullagh, Coore, Creegh, Cooraclare, Cahermurphy and surrounding areas in Co. Clare.

Repair works have been completed but it may take additional time for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network. Anyone who experiences issues with discolouration is asked to run the cold water tap in the kitchen for a few minutes.

Darragh Conneely, Water Operations Lead with Uisce ร‰ireann, thanked customers for their patience. โ€œOn behalf of Uisce ร‰ireann, Iโ€™d like to thank impacted stakeholders for their patience, co-operation, and assistance while we worked to complete the repairs as quickly as possibleโ€.

A spokesperson for Uisce ร‰ireann said they understand the inconvenience when an unplanned outage occurs.
