COLÁISTE Muire suffered a heart-breaking defeat in the Alllianz post primary schools junior B camogie final.

The game’s only goal came a minute into injury time and it finally killed off the brave challenge of the Clare side.
A physically stronger Kilkenny outfit played with the aid of the breeze in the opening half and they made the better start racing into a 0-5 to 0-0 lead by the end of the opening quarter.
Two points in the space of a minute from the side’s top scorer, Croia Corcoran boosted the Clare side considerably and when the half time whistle sounded the winners were 0-6 to 0-3 in front.
Early in the second quarter Coláiste Muire Ennis lost centre back Emily Sue Daly to injury and they were dealt a further blow in the final minute of the half when they had a goal disallowed, the referee ruling that there was a square infringement.
Two Croia Corcoran points early in the second half closed the gap to the minimum and this was still the position with eleven minutes remaining after the sides had exchanged points three times.
A converted free from Corcoran levelled the contest a minute later but this was to prove the Ennis school’s last score of the day.
Three minutes from the end, Clea Whelan pointed the Kilkenny side back in front and they sealed victory a minute into ‘added time’ when Olivia Marnell found the net.
Clare battled hard in the remaining two minutes but a strong Johnstown defence held firm.
Team captain Katie Dunphy, Ciara Joyce, Leyla Ahern, Taylor Corbett and Olivia Marnell impressed for the winners.
Emma Jones made a number of excellent saves for Coláiste Muire, Ennis on a day when Blathnaid Hegarty, Maisie O’Malley, Rachel Kerins and, in particular, Croia Corcoran stood out.
